Paul Bates Paul Bates trained at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, Santa Maria California, then at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He then left for New York where he first found work at the New York Shakespeare Festival (not counting driving a cab and waiting tables). He was a so-so cabbie and a terrible waiter. Regional credits followed at the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival in Pittsburgh, the Goodman Theatre Chicago, the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, and back in New York at the Young Playwrights Festival Of Playwrights Horizons. Paul is also a founding member of The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Paul's film credits include: Mr. Wonderful, Coming To America, Crazy People, and Instinct which Paul likes to say, " I got my butt kicked by a Knight." (Sir Anthony Hopkins) In addition Paul is probably the only working actor in Los Angeles besides Billy Bob Thornton from Malvern Arkansas, and sadly the similarities end there. Paul does not have an Oscar, and to date has not slept with Laura Dern or Angelina Jolie, but hopes to in the near future.
